Moose tracks Tour

Today was a good day! Took a client North today for a Moose Tracks tour. After a 3 hour drive and our long hike to our planned destination. Once we arrived at our location we were greeted with some very heavy rains. Due to the rains we were not able to get any pictures or video! We did see 2 Large Bull moose, both sporting 40" plus antler spread, a mystery moose which we only got a glimpse of as it was leaving the trail we were hiking on and a very large bodied Whitetail Buck. We did not see any cows or calves today but it was still a very good day!

June 10th 2011

This morning I went to check my Moose camera, I had another 200 pictures. The reason the picture count is down is because most of the mature cows are now with calves. They have given birth and nursing and protecting them, at just a couple days old the calves will stand and begin to walk and follow mama around. They are very wobbly and slow but walking, in some cases even in water learning to swim. Next week I hope to have some calf pics to share with all of you.

Moose Licks Tour

If anyone is interested in seeing moose, now is the time! The next few weeks will be the best and most productive time to see moose on Our Moose Licks Tour. This tour gives you some great opportunities to take photos of moose. There is no need to travel hours north in hopes of seeing a moose when central NH has a huge population of this magnificent animal. June 3rd, 2011 Moose Traffic

Today as I do every friday morning, I hike out to check my Moose cam, immediately, I noticed on my camera that the Moose traffic was down slightly from the week before. This week I only got 520 pictures down from 860 the week before. I looked at my pictures and as the week rolled on I noticed fewer and fewer cows, this can only mean 1 thing, Baby Calves! I think many cows have given birth this past week, with that said next week I should have some calf pics to share with everyone.

Cows, once given birth to their young, if not already near water will lead them to water after only 1-2 days and teach them to swim. Swimming for calves is a huge defense against predators.
