Ice is finally gone from one of my favorite marshes! This morning, a good friend of mine and his wife accompanied me in the canoe to go check out our favorite marsh, we wanted to go see some of the local wildlife that make this marsh home. let me say this, we were not disappointed! We saw more waterfowl then we have ever seen before at this marsh including a few nesting geese. here is a quick list of what we saw, there were Common Mergansers, Hooded Mergansers, Kingfishers, Canadian Geese and Wood Ducks. We also saw several Osprey's and 2 Bald Eagles, including 1 juvenile female and an adult male. We also saw a bird that is very rare to NH, this being the Sandhill crane, this was another rare treat for us. This was truly a great start to the viewing season. Although there were no moose spotted today, this was to be expected, within the next couple of weeks when the plants start to turn green and the vegetation starts to grow in these marshes and ponds then we will start to see the moose. Until then, enjoy the outdoors and what it has to offer!
