Moose Fact # 10

AGGRESSION:

Moose are typically not aggressive towards humans but as with any wild animal they demand respect! Moose attack more people then Bears and Wolves combined! This being said, moose should not be thought of as dangerous, although they can be very dangerous. A moose is most dangerous in the following situations:  A) when startled or harassed by people. B) In the presence of a dog. The moose has a natural knowledge and fear of Wolves, so the moose may think your dog is a wolf and try to attack you, the dog or both. C) Bulls during the rut or breeding season can be very aggressive due to the high levels of Hormones and may charge on occasion. D) Cows with Calves are very, very protective and if humans get too close they will attack. Cows with calves should never be approached under any conditions.
