Moose Fact # 9

SEX DETERMINATION:

Moose sex can be determined in several ways; by tracks, Vulva patch and by the presence of antlers, which is the easiest way and most common way for most people in determining sex. Tracks left by cows tend to be pointed or sharp tipped, more defined and narrower then those left by a bull. The Vulva patch is a much easier way to tell but with this a cow must be turned away from you or walking away to see. This is a white patch of hair just under the tail of a moose and is only present on a cow.
